1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. They let a site remember short pieces of information between page views — for example that you have already dismissed a banner. Related technologies such as local storage and pixels work similarly, and we treat them under the same rules described here.
2. How We Use Cookies
Shelfwise is a reading site about store discounts, not a shop. We use cookies sparingly: to keep the site working correctly, to remember a small number of display choices, and — where permitted — to count how many people read each guide so we know which topics to expand. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to track you across unrelated websites.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential cookies. Required for basic operation: security, load balancing, remembering that you responded to a cookie notice. These cannot be switched off through our site because themews.xyz would not function reliably without them.
- Analytics cookies. Used to produce aggregate statistics — page views, entry pages, referral sources, rough device categories. They tell us that a guide on clearance labels is read ten times more than one on rain checks; they do not tell us who you are. These are optional and are set only where lawful or after consent.
- Preference cookies. Store non-essential choices such as a collapsed FAQ section, a chosen table view, or a dismissed notice, so the site behaves consistently on your next visit. Also optional.
4. Managing Cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, either globally or per site, usually under Settings → Privacy. You can also browse in a private window so that cookies are discarded when you close it. If a consent banner is shown to you on themews.xyz, you can revisit your choice at any time by clearing the site's cookies and reloading the page.
Blocking all cookies is possible and Shelfwise will still be readable, but some conveniences — remembered preferences, dismissed notices — will reset on each visit.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Cookies may be set by services we rely on, such as an analytics provider or a content-delivery network. Their use is limited to the purposes described above. In addition, when you follow a link from one of our guides to a supermarket, coupon platform or price-comparison site, that destination sets its own cookies under its own policy — we have no control over them and encourage you to read their notices.
6. Changes
If we add, remove or reconfigure the tools that set cookies, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date changed. Where new consent is legally required, we will ask for it before setting the relevant cookies.
